If I were a seducer

- Deborah Nwanguma

If I were a Seducer
I will lull you to sleep
with my sweet sonorous
voice vowing
not to nick
a flower on your bud
even when you're sure
I will

If I were a seducer
your office will be
an orifice to our trysts
written and unwritten
we will practice
the law as much
as we break them

If I were a seducer
you'll see that
a turtle-necked suit
can be
as free as air
and as desirable too
you'll also know
the wonders of hands
gifted with
zippers and buttons

If I were a seducer
the sea diving us
will be shaking with
nails driving into screws
the books on it
chronicling our
arguments and
counter-arguments

If I were a seducer
your angelic visage
will be spotted with
blushes blooming
every where like bunnies
in a vegetable garden

If I were a seducer
your skin would be
speckled with songs bearing testament
to my amour

but, I'm just a dove
with the wisdom of a serpent
