The
word past is synonymous to previous, former, before, initial or no longer in
existence. It is always used to describe a time that has gone in respect to an
action or activity that has already taken place.
The
word past can equally be interpreted as;
P=Prevent
A=All
S=Success
T=Totally
From
the explanation above, it is so clear that the past can halt or terminate all
your chance of success. Living in the past causes you to develop a complacent
attitude, relying on your previous achievements or negative experiences, and
using it as a yard stick for success. Dwelling so much in the past can result
to lack of enthusiasm, having a fixation towards making a head way in life.
Your previous achievements or encounter cannot be used to describe your present
state or status. What you acquired in the past does not make you successful but
that which you are yet to accomplish in the future.
Contrary to the axiom and
maxim about the 'good old days', many people still live with a positive
mentality towards the so called 'good old days' in the past without discovering
the better new days in the future. Until you forgo the achievement of the good
old days, you may find it difficult to record success in the better new days.
You have not achieved anything in the past until you realize that there is
still more to achieve with your untapped potentials. Your past can be your
worst nightmare and an express road to failure. The dangers of dwelling in the
past can prevent you from the wonders of living to fulfil your purpose in the
future. Let go of the past and lay hold on success, leave your past experiences
whether positive or negative, learn the lessons therein and move on, you can
still set new records.
