Biafra agitators blame Nigeria since the war instead of
using their spirited entrepreneurship to build their territory. Ndi'gbo have
spent fortunes building trading posts in Eko, Ojo in Lagos, Sabon Gari in Kano
and sundry places in Nigeria with an indomitable spirit since after the war.
Was this not done in Nigeria? How come their businesses have
prospered in many places unhindered in Nigeria? Is it Nigeria that has stopped
the Igbo from investing their personal wealth on their own homeland? What would
the Germans then do after two world wars they instigated? If they had blamed
Europe and the world like the Igbo are doing they won't have grown from the
devastation and the ashes of those wars to become the most industrialized, even
above those who fought them.
Biafrans, please, 'get brain' you have the entrepreneurial
spirit to develop at the fastest pace than any group within Nigeria yet you
have not put it to use. In the last administration, Nd'igbo occupied the
biggest positions yet years went by and what did we get for it? Individuals who
in their selfish and greedy fashion lined only their pockets in a shameless
contest for who is the richest, sacrificing the common need for infrastructural
development. I thought the roads of the south east were built in the last
administration. What happened to them now? Is it not a shame that the land
which produced The Great Zik, Mbadiwe, Alvan Ikoku, Eni Njoku, Emeka Anyaoku,
Philip Emegwali, Chinua Achebe, Prof Chike Obi, etc, will parade those fellows
in the last administration as our light.
We had the Secretary to the Federal Government, Aviation,
Petroleum, COAS, and many more. What did it bring our way? Our egalitarianism,
the Igbo a ma a’Eze mentality have made us a selfish lot who care only about
personal glory and self-aggrandizement than collective good. But that was not
what built the Imo Airport. It was built by our collective sweat and blood by
our communities and self-help. Have we thrown that spirit out of the window? Are
we now led by half literate, certificate wielding uneducated money-miss-road
buffoons who mortgage our collective good and development for their self-glory?
Bola Tinubu and his cohorts have grown from the ashes of the
disappointment of 2003 of holding one state to taking over the southwest with a
development blueprint, a master plan to develop the region with or without
Federal Government help. In fact, Tinubu started it alone by constructing and
rehabilitating federal infrastructures in the state even without allocation.
The Mushin Express Road linking Agege Motor Road, Western Avenue completed by
Tunde Fashola, BRT on Ikorodu Road, expansion of the same road and the Lekki
Road. These are just about the smallest part. They have started exporting the
plan to other Yoruba States. Their votes were crucial in bringing Jonathan to
power in 2011, but they did not get a good bargain for their support. Check the
appointments and projects for them under Jonathan. So, without taking to the
streets to maim people they rallied against Jonathan in 2015. They voted him
out!
In this government they are pushing forward some of their
best heads. The best aren't measured by the money they have or their political
weight. They are just good at what they do. That's political literacy. The
present crop of Nd'igbo appear to lack this. Some people have been beating the
drum of this Biafra agitation without a careful thinking of where it would
lead, The Price, heavy price! Now that the cloud and storm are gathering and we
are beginning to lose our young as a result of the indiscretion of a few, even
when the real battle has not started, will they learn?
We are better than that.
